A Chapter in Horological Care
Our story is written through patient craftsmanship and careful attention to each timepiece that enters our workshop
Return HomeOur Story
Fablecraft began with a straightforward aim: to provide careful, honest watch repair services in Kuala Lumpur. The workshop was established by individuals who had spent years learning traditional horological techniques and who understood the value of patience in restoration work.
Rather than pursuing rapid expansion, we focused on building a reputation for thoughtful service. Each timepiece that comes to us receives individual attention, with work performed according to established practices rather than shortcuts. This approach has allowed us to develop relationships with clients who value quality workmanship and clear communication.
Our workshop occupies a modest space on Jalan Raja Chulan, where natural light illuminates the work benches and proper tools are maintained in good order. We continue to invest in learning, attending workshops and staying informed about developments in materials and techniques while maintaining respect for traditional methods that have served the horological community well for generations.
The name Fablecraft reflects our view of each repair as part of a larger narrative—the ongoing story of a timepiece and its relationship with its owner. We take responsibility for contributing a well-executed chapter to that story through careful work and honest assessment.

Quality Standards
Our approach to watch repair is guided by established practices and a commitment to honest assessment of each timepiece's condition and needs.
Proper Equipment
We maintain appropriate tools for watch repair work, including precision measuring instruments, quality hand-setting tools, and proper lighting. Equipment is kept in good working order and replaced when performance degrades.
Documentation
Each service includes written records of work performed, parts replaced, and any observations about the watch's condition. Assessment reports include photographs and timing measurements where relevant.
Realistic Timelines
We provide accurate turnaround estimates based on actual work requirements. If additional time is needed due to unforeseen complications, we communicate this promptly rather than rushing the work to meet an arbitrary deadline.
Clear Communication
Before beginning any work, we discuss the proposed approach, expected outcomes, and associated costs. If we discover additional issues during service, we contact you for approval before proceeding with extra work.
Careful Handling
Watches are stored securely while in our care, with appropriate measures taken to prevent damage or loss. Work is performed in controlled conditions with attention to cleanliness and proper handling techniques.
Ongoing Learning
The horological field continues to develop, and we maintain our capability through regular study of technical literature, attendance at relevant workshops, and consultation with experienced colleagues when appropriate.
Our Approach to Horological Care
Watch repair requires a combination of manual skill, patience, and knowledge of mechanical systems. At Fablecraft, we approach each timepiece with recognition that it represents both technical achievement and personal significance to its owner.
Our work begins with careful assessment. Before recommending any service, we examine the watch thoroughly to understand its current condition, identify any issues requiring attention, and determine the most appropriate approach to restoration or maintenance. This assessment forms the basis for our discussion with you about work scope and expected outcomes.
During repair work, we follow established horological practices while remaining attentive to each watch's particular characteristics. Vintage timepieces may require different considerations than modern pieces; dial restoration demands different techniques than movement servicing. We adapt our approach to suit the specific needs of each watch rather than applying a standardized process to all pieces.
Materials matter in watch repair. When parts need replacement, we source appropriate components and discuss options with you when choices exist. For dial repainting, we work to match original colours and finishes as closely as possible, documenting the existing state thoroughly before beginning any interventive work.
Throughout the repair process, we maintain clear communication about progress, any discoveries made during the work, and realistic timelines for completion. Our goal is to return your timepiece in proper working order, with honest information about its condition and any recommendations for future care.
